The Irish School of Farriery and KWETB has welcomed Minister for Higher and Further Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, TD, to the Curragh Racecourse for a demonstration by apprentices on the Advanced Craft Certificate (Farriery) Apprenticeship.

Minister Harris observed students crafting horseshoes. The Minister also got an opportunity to speak with students and staff involved in the course. The Minister was presented with a custom horseshoe made by the School.

HRI (Horse Racing Ireland) facilitated the meeting and it was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate to the Minister how industry bodies, education and training are working together to support the craft of farriers and the horse racing industry in general.

The Irish School of Farriery and KWETB (Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board) have been running this unique Farriery Apprenticeship successfully for many years located on the RACE (Racing Academy & Centre of Education) state-of-the-art campus at the Curragh, Co. Kildare.
