What is FET?
FET supports around 200,000 unique learners annually, underpinned by a state investment of around €800 million and offers a range of learning opportunities and supports across Level 1 to 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). It is delivered by 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs) ensuring that FET reflects regional characteristics and meets regional needs.
What is an ETB?
ETB stands for Educational and Training Board. There are 16 ETBs that were established on 1st July 2013, following from the commencement of the Education and Training Boards Act 2013. The main provider of further and adult education and training in Ireland are the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) Marine House forms part of the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board.
Where is Marine House?
Marine House is situated in the heart of Wicklow Town.
Where are the courses held?
The courses are held both in Wicklow and Kildare as well as some delivered online.
What is Solas?
SOLAS was established on 27 October 2013, following the commencement of the Further Education and Training Act 2013. SOLAS works with the ETBs to support the development of appropriate further education and training programmes and curricula and the sourcing of further education and training interventions from the private, public and not for profit sector.
How do I apply for a course?
Am I eligible to apply?
Course entry requirements vary from course to course depending on the type of course and level of certification on offer. The entry requirements for each course can be viewed under the specific course you wish to apply to on the course section of the website.
How much do the courses cost?
Any fees will be detailed in the webpage for the relevant course.
Will I receive a qualification after doing a course?
This depends on your course and the majority of courses are certified with QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) and other recognised industry bodies such as City & Guilds.

Your Future. Your Skills is a collaborative project between lead partner Kildare and Wicklow ETB in partnership with Dublin and Dun Laoghaire ETB and Kilkenny and Carlow ETB.
Co-created by City & Guilds and WorldChefs, Global Hospitality Certification, it is the first and only professional skills framework in the world.
What is a Digital Badge?
Using the latest technology, a Digital Badge showcases the skills and experience you have developed while working in the Hospitality Industry.
Makes your skills visible opening up new opportunities for work and personal growth.
Designed to be shared on social media and can be verified by employers on-line.
How much does a Digital Badge cost?
Applications and Badge issuing is free.
However, The number of digital badges available are limited and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

How long is ‘Your Future, Your Skills’ open to applications?
Your Future. Your Skills is open to applications from 5 May 2020 to 31 June 2020
Does everyone receive a Digital Badge?
No. There are criteria that need to be satisfied to be awarded a Digital Badge.
Does Global Hospitality Certification sit on the National Framework of Qualifications?
No, the Global Hospitality Certification does not sit within the National Framework of Qualifications.
Can I apply for more than 1 Digital Badge?
No. Badges are limited to one per person.
What is the difference between the Entry Level Route and the Professional Level Route?
The entry level route is for those who have full or part time casual work experience in hospitality. Examples of these may include temporary jobs in bars, restaurants, event catering or housekeeping.
The professional route is for those with team member and above experience in hospitality. Examples include roles within culinary, food and beverage service, housekeeping and reception departments.

What Digital Badges can I apply for on the Professional Route?
Please visit www.worldchefs.org/globalcertification for a full description of each digital badge that is available.
Click on the digital badge that best describes your experience and then on MORE INFORMATION and you can browse what the badge includes.
Then, return to website and apply in the application form.
Select the badge you want to apply for.
What’s involved in achieving a badge on the Professional Route?
Once you apply, you will receive an email to acknowledge that we have received your applications form and when your application window will be.
When your application window opens you will receive a follow up email from us with instructions on how to access the on-line portal to complete your application.
You will receive access to an online portal to allow you to demonstrate your skills and experience for the chosen badge through a series of tasks
How long do I have to complete my submission once I access the on-line portal?
Applicants have 2 months to complete their application.

What is involved in the Entry Level discussion?
This is a short 20 minute on-line conversation.
To help you achieve the Experience in Hospitality Badge, we need to demonstrate that the skills and experience you gained while working match those that are required to receive this digital badge.
The discussion is based around a series of questions that we will guide you through.
